Hi my 11 year old 83 pound son has in the past complain of stomach pains off and on. Well for 6 days straight now he has been complaining of severe stomach pains and 3 days straight he has been vomiting, he has no fever and no diarrhea. I took him to the ER and they did a CBC, lipase test, cmp, and a abdominal xray all normal. I was told he had a stomach virus but do a stomach virus last this long and with such pain or should he have more test done?
Stomach bugs typically last 72-96 hours. they can have continued symptoms for 7-10 days. after which I would not expect them to persist. if symptoms have persisted I would consider re evaluation , and possibly imaging ct scan etc. to evaluate
