What Causes Stomach Pain Post Herpes Infection Recovery ?
hello doc, my mother is 62yrs old, she suffered from harpies on the left side of her stomach last year and it took almost 4-5 months for her to recover from the disease. Even though she has recovered but sometimes she still feels pain in the nerves inside her stomach. Please help.

The shingles virus is a virus that remains in the hosts body for life. It becomes dormant (non active) and stays in the nerve fibers of the body. After acute viral activation with the blisters , the nerves can be sensitive and remain painful unfortunately. Lidoderm patches or Lidoderm cream can aid pain, or trial of anti inflammatory medication. If the pain feels deeper into the internal organs, consider physician evaluation for endoscopy to see inside stomach, or imaging to see inside abdomen.
