What Causes Stomach Pain Below Rib Cage?

my stomach hurts, right below my rib cage. it's been hurting on and off for 5 days now. it's not a gasy, bloaty pain, but it is a sharp pain. and it feels like someone is squeezing my stomach really really hard. the pain comes and goes, but when it does hurt, it hurts REALLY BAD...and i don't have a fever, nor have i thrown up, so I don't know what's wrong.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern.

I would recommend an ECG first, then an Ultrasound abdomen to rule out MI and Gall stones. Please fix an appointment with your doctor for the necessary workup.
I would empirically recommend a two week course of a
PPI such as Pantoprazole and a pro kinetic
like itopride and an anti spasmodic to see for improvement

wishing you best of health

Thanks
