Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having stomach pains in the umbilical region of my abdomen for 8 days. I can t figure out what the cause is. I woke up one morning with a stomach ache and it has remained constant since. The pain doesn t move it stays in the middle of my stomach. I have had bowel movements in the 8 days but not consistent. I ll go 3 days without having one. The color is slightly yellow but I ve only had diarrhea this morning which is no longer there. What could be the problem?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Stomach pain and diarrhea suggest gastrointestinal tract (GIT) infection. A stool examination - routine examination and microscopic examination will help to look for evidence of infection- bacterial or parasitic. Identification of infectious agent will be followed by treatment. In case no infectious agent is detected, other causes of diarrhea have to be looked for like osmotic diarrhea.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and hence management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
