What Causes Stomach Discomfort While On Clindamycin And Flagyl?

I just started taking flagyl 500 mg 2 bid and clindamycin hcl 150 mg 4 times daily yesterday for h-pylori bacteria diagnosis. I had not been experiencing stomach discomfort before taking these. However, during the night, the discomfort began. Is this normal with these meds?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain Clindamycin and Flagyl are antibiotics and they are responsible for treating bacterial infections but they have a drawback that along with killing the harmful bacteria they tend to kill the good bacteria present in intestine that are responsible for the complex functioning of the intestines like digestion and absorption and the functioning gets disturbed leading to stomach discomfort and even can cause diarrhoea or at times constipation in some patients..
You should consult your treating physician and get evaluated and he can either reduce the dose of the medication..
He can also advise you to take proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole every morning empty stomach.
Taking more of probiotics like yoghurt can also be advised as it helps in replenishing good bacteria of intestines..
Take light diet and plenty of fluids..
