What Causes Stomach Ache And Migraines?

Hi, I have been taking the levest pill since the 1st November 14. I haven t missed any, but a few years ago I took the pop pill and bled for 20 days which scared me so I never took it again until Iwas pprescribed it in November. Since I started it over a month ago I am still on my period now. At first it was just like a regular one but its not as heavy now. I have also had recent belly pains and migraines which are worrying me and I still haven t spoken to my doctor about if. With it being the 1st time Iv used it in years I forgot to have the 7 day break and went straight on to the 2nd packet which is now half gone. I m not sure we re to go from here

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,Welcome to the HCM,
These symptoms you are having because of contraceptive pills you are taking now.
As contraceptive pills have hormones (synthetic progesterone),normaly it works to develope of endometrial tissue and at the end of menstural cycle causes shedding of that endometrial tissue if pregnancy does not happen so the menses.
Like wise synthetic progesterone causes withdrawal bleeding after stopping the pills.
As you have missed the withdrawal period but if you want to continue contraception and avoid pregnancy you may continue the pills and stop after 21 days of pills as before. Since you are having side effects (migraine, stomach ache) if these symptoms bother you much ,you may use condoms or intrauterine contraceptive device instead of taking pills after discussing with Gynaecologist.
Hopefully my answer is helpfull.
Regards,Dr.Maheshwari
