What Causes Stiffness In The Fingers?

The husband of my friend, he is 63, has been having problems with stiffness in his fingers. At work he can only use to fingers to type. He has not pain, and also has problems gripping. His hands are his lively hood. They have been to his doctor, however; they are running tests and still have no idea what it may be. One bad thing is he goes to Kaiser. I m hoping you may have some ideas. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Fatima Baeta

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello I have read through your question and I can understand your concern. Stiffness in the joints of fingers at this stage could be due to arthritis. I would advise him to get an X Ray of the affected hand done. He should also get anti CCP , ESR and RA Factor done to rule out other causes of inflammation . Meanwhile he can take an antiinflammatory like aceclofenac and do stretching exercises. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
