What Causes Stiff And Swollen Joints After Taking Somatropin?

does a person (male) of 46 years old who at age 7 had surgery for craniophryioma (benign brain tumor) and pituitary gland was surgically removed need to continue taking injections of somatropin for rest of his life. He is suffering from stiff joints, swelling in his ankles, some back pain, gouty arthritis, dry mouth? These are some side effects of somatropin according to my research.

Hello,

As the patient had undergone brain surgery, post this there will be some reactions within the body. Undergoing physiotherapy session to help improve the muscle strength, reduce joint stiffness, reduce pains and by improving the cardiovascular endurance the reduction in the swelling.

Most cases post surgery are advised for physiotherapy so the outcome score is optimum.

The medicines are given to control the tumor recurrence and the side effects will be present. But doing correction of the same will help improve the outcome score.

In my clinical practice of over 12 years, post every brain surgery patient is advised for physiotherapy for better outcome score.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
