What Causes Stabbing Pain In The Breast?

Breast pain. Starting when i was breastfeeding my son. Thought I was just sensitive with him and feed more off the other breast and made sure I used compresses etc regularly to prevent mastitis. Stopped breast feeding about 7 months ago. The breast has recently become more painful with stabbing pains. Small lump, sensitive to the touch.

Welcome to Health care magic.

1. Post lactational lumpiness and pain in the breast could be inflammatory cause - mastitis.
2.Regarding the lumps what you feel could be dilated ducts - ductal ectasia, due to stasis of the milk.
3.Best definitive picture of pathology can get from the ultrasound breast.
4.Ultrasound breast will help to evaluate the nature of the lump ( ductal dilation, fatty lobules, cystic changes ) its source and where its extending to.
5.Afther that appropriate treatment can be done, in milk stasis - a suction can be done to relieve heaviness, and a course of antibiotics for mastitis to treat. Some physic to release pain. Good luck.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
