What Causes Spotty Vision From Left Eye, Pulsatile Tinnitus And Neck Pain?

I am a 25 year old female. I have a problem with my left eye. If I cover my right eye using only my left eye then it begins to go blank. My vision has always been 20/20 (although I haven t visited an optometrist in a couple years.) If I open only my left eye my vision is extremely spotty. I feel as though it may be getting worse. At night, I have been having problems with pulsatile tinnitus in the left ear (I researched this problem online and am purely assuming that s what the whooshing sound of blood in my ear drum is due to). I get slight headaches, am always fatigued, seem to have neck pain (am always straightening my posture to lessen the pain), and have extremely stiff neck ligaments connecting the muscle to bone on the front of my neck. I m most concerned about losing my vision. I m cutting gluten out of my diet in hopes of this all being a simple allergy that is causing inflammation and these problems. Has anyone had similar problems or have insight on what may be going on??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of spotty vision from left eye, left ear tinnitus, headache and pain at the muscles attached to bones in neck.
Pulsatile tinnitus is most probable due to the following reasons:
Arteriovenous malformation in area of left ear or nerves.
Hemangioma.
A condition called glomus jugulare.
This can affect the vision in the same sided eye.
Can also cause headache.
Hence, I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an ENT Surgeon immediately for proper clinical evaluation, examination and get the investigations like arteriography and as required.
Also consult an Ophthalmologist to know the cause and correlate with investigations along with ENT Surgeon.
A proper diagnosis alone can give you the best possible treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
