What Causes Spotting Instead Of Normal Regular Period?

I had unprotected sex last Dec 22. My period usually comes regularly on the 1st or 2nd of every month. yesterday I started spotting so I thought I got my period but after inserting a tampon overnight, it came out clean. I changed tampons thinking it would be the start of my period but again it came out clean. I douched and there was no trace of clots or anything close to my period. What are the chances of me being pregnant? I just turned 47 last Dec 18. My period cycle is very regular.
