What Causes Spotting Followed By Heavy Bleeding And Cramping?

Hi. Im 35 yrs old. Had tubal ligation 11 years ago. Clipped burned and tied. I have not had a full period in over two months. The first abnormal cycle was one day of very light bleeding, the next two days, it trickled off into pink spotting, then almost nothing, just a little brown streakage when i wiped on the last day. Then next month, last month s cycle, i only spotted very lightly for 3 days.. now, i expect my cycle in 3 days for this month. However, this morning, i woke up with slight menstrual cramps. I should note that I ve had severe pain in my lower back, particular my spine tailbone region for the last month. I had chalked it up to an old injury from 15 years ago, and the weather changing. Back to the subject at hand, i started spotting this morning.. by the time the afternoon had rolled around, i had completely soaked the pad i put on Just incase i was starting my cycle.. I ve also had rather uncomfortable cramping on the left side only. It radiates into my back at times. I have a very high pain tolerance, and some of these cramps are almost unbearable. I would commemorate the more intense ones to the pain of childbirth. . Without anaesthesia. . And yes, i would know, I ve had So, I m soaking in a hot tub, thing to ease the cramps, but nothing works.. before i run to a possibly Ebola infected emergency room, please tell me, is there any need? Could this be an eptopic pregnancy bursting? Oh, yes, i had a blood test, negative, but that was 3 weeks ago.. doc said it could be to early to tell.. anyway. Help?

Hi,

Tubal sterilization can be associated with menstrual problems later on. Sometimes the blood supply to ovaries can be compromised on one or both sides giving rise to severe pain due to compromised blood supply. However with acute onset of such pain after 11 years of having the procedure can only be considered after other possibilities especially ectopic can be ruled out. I suggest you take immediate pain relief and see a gynecologists to organize further blood tests and pelvic ultrasound.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
