What Causes Spotting During Menopause?

I am a 51 year-old female and stopped getting my menstrual cycle about 7 months ago. I did not experience menopause, maybe I had a mild, undetected case. I started spotting brown discharge and a little blood for a couple of days. I am just a little concerned about this because a female family member who is 60 recently started spotting and her doctor diagnosed cancer and will undergo an operation soon to determine at what stage the cancer is.

Hi..
Welcome to HCM..
Thanks for the query..
At menopause first the periods become less frequent before they totally stop.
Sometimes because of hormonal changes 1-2 bouts of bleeding may occur usually..
Cervical cancer is the most common cause to be ruled out in post menopausal bleeding..
Don't worry.. Get a pap smear taken and followed by a cervical biopsy to rule out cervical cancer..
Hope this information helps you..
Take care..
Regards..
