What Causes Spots And Burning Sensation On Tongue?
I have some sort of spots on my tongue, if i eat or drink colored food that part of my tongue wont get color. Im a huge spicy food lover but ever since i had this going on about 2 yrs ill say. I cant eat hot food when i do the smallest hot cheeto will burn my tongue as if i ate a hole chili. What is this how can i make my tonge get back to normal? People tell me it looks nasty goto dr i just got insurance should i go or is it nothing to worry about? It doesn t hurt just burns bad when i have spicy food
As per your query spots over tongue along with burning sensation seems to be most probably due to Recurrent Apthous ulcers or canker sores and can be commonly due to nutritional deficiency of iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid, stress, acid reflux, allergic reaction to any food or medicine,or toothpaste, hormonal imbalances in women, uncontrolled diabetes, dry mouth etc..
But as the condition is persistent since two years you should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can advise you to get certain investigations done like complete hormonal profile, hemoglobin oercetage, Vitamin B12 LEVELS, blood glucose levels etc.. Treatment of underlying cause will resolve the problem..
As of now you can take supportive treatment like gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine for relieving discomfort especially during meals, take Ibuprofen for pain relief, do warm saline gargles and suck ice pops..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
