What Causes Sporadic Eye Pain?

I have sporadic eye pain in the right eye. Best I can describe, it feels like there's something in the eye, but there isn't. It's started to wake me up at night, usually between 3:00am & 6:00am. When I open my eye, it gushes like a geyser! It's not red, itchy, or swollen, but hurts like crazy and is very sensitive to light. When it's really bad, it's like there's a clamp on my eye holding it shut!

Tylenol helps. It tends to go away after 3 or 4 hours, but has been repeating about once per week. Help???
