What Causes Splitting Headaches With Ear Pain, Sore Throat And Slight Fever?
I have a splitting headache focused on the right side of my head just above the temple and gets worse if I cough or from loud sounds. My ear hurts when I swallow, throat is a little sore, fatigued and developed a slight fever today....is it an ear infection? Or tension headache? Or both? Should I go see a doctor?
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to Upper respiratory tract infection or Sinusitis. There is a tract called Eustachian tube, through which infection can spread to ear from nasopharynx, leading to ear pain.
Management includes: 1. Steam inhalation. 2. Analgesics like paracetamol. 3. Nasal decongestant drops. 4. Antibiotics depending upon culture & sensitivity. 5. Antihistamine preparations can also be used to provide symptomatic relief. 6. Maintain adequate hydration & a healthy balance diet. 7. Also make sure that you are well protected from cold, dust & other allergens.
If symptoms still persist, kindly consult an ENT specialist for proper clinical examination. Wish you good health & a speedy recovery. Take care.
