What Causes Sour Smell In My Nostrils?

I have a sour smell in my nostrils for over six months. A collection of dried, snot collects in the front corners of nostrils. I have used nail rinses which seem to help a bit, but have not gone away. I have been diagnosed with hydtotic eczema recently, which has affected both hands and feet. All doctors have said to use a little Vaseline in my nostrils, and say they are not sure what it is. Focusing on my bigger problems. Is it cancer or something .

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have t sour smell in my nostrils. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query sinusitis , allergy rhinitis , nasal polyp or other allergy . I would suggest you to take over the counter anti histamine like zyrtec twice a day , apply vaseline as prescribed by doctor and do warm saline nasal rinses . Consult ENT specialist again for proper examination . Doctor may order nasal endoscopy , CT scan and blood test to rule out any malignancy . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory decongestant . Doctor may also recommend nasal polyp surgery .
