What Causes Soreness In The Throat And Mouth?

I have a soreness in my throat Tongue and inside lining of my mouth. there is redness and is painful to eat. There is also white matter along the areas that hurt. I've using salt water gargles withsome relief. I'll make a doctors apt on Monday. Is there anything else I could be doing?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain it seems that the symptoms of soreness on tongue, throat and lining inside the mouth is due to oral yeast infection known as Oral Candidiasis or oral thrush and it is a fungal infection and considering your age it can be due to reduced immunity and even there can be many other causes for it..

Causes can be antibiotic and steroid intake, dry mouth, hormonal changes, diabetes etc..

You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case if the thrush is confirmed he can advise you to take antifungal mouthwash like Nytatin mouthwash and clotrimazole lozenges for 2 weeks..
In case if it still does not resolve oral antifungals like Fluconazole can also be advised..
