What Causes Soreness In The Arms While On Vytorin And Atorvastatin?
I had been taking Vytorin 10/40 for quite a while and never noticed muscle pain - I was switched to Atorvastatin 40 about 4 months ago and in the past 3 wks have noticed my arms are sore for no apparent reason. Should I be concerned (no I didnt lift or bump my arms)
Hi & Welcome. I can understand your concern regarding the safety of Atorvastatin.
Based on the history given you seem to be suffering from myopathy apparently induced by intake of Atorvastatin. Myopathy (muscle pain, tenderness, myositis) is one of the most common side effects of cholesterol lowering medication Atorvastatin.
I advise you to stop taking this medication and consult your treating physician to make necessary dose adjustment or to prescribe an alternate effective but a safer medication to lower your high cholesterol.
Hope this will help. A feed back is appreciated.
