What Causes Soreness In Leg After Having Blood Transfusion?

hello. I just recently had a blood transfusion due to a very low red blood cell count (6.8) I am currently at 9.3 after a hospital stay and as mentioned above, I had two units of blood. Tonight I am experiencing some soarness in my left leg and concerned about clotting post a blood transfusion. Can you tell me more about this and what symtoms to expect with clotting?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

A blood clot in the veins in the leg would present with pain and tenderness, swelling, increased warmth, redness.

In some cases, not all of the typical symptoms may be present, only a few.

If you suspect a clot, you should speak to or visit your doctor.

A doppler ultrasound can be done to take a look at the veins and determine if a clot is present.

I hope this helps
