Hi there I have had on and off for around 6 months a really bad cough. Also my voice goes very husky at times and have had at times sore throats. I am asthmatic and use a Symbicort inhaler when needed (usually morning and night. I have had around 4-5 years ago a CT scan done on my head. I did have a problem with my sinuses but was told not bad enough to operate and was given 3 months antibiotics and it seemed to help. However at the time it showed up on the CT scan that I had a very small nodule on my thyroid. I saw an ears nose and throat doctor and they monitored it and at the end said that it had reduced in size and did not need to go back. E I have never smoked in my life but my cough sounds as though I have. I have, been given a blood test for my thyroid but it has come back clear. I had a chest x ray done at the start of this problem as had to go to A & E on Christmas Day due to the fact my breathing/chest was bad. I ended up having steroids and antibiotics and given nebulisers. I have had approx 3 times (only once since I have been ill this time) a big lump coming out behind my right ear. I was told this was a gland. It did hurt but, went after a little time! I have had blood tests done for numerous things ie platelets, immune system, liver etc and all have come back clear. Have had another chest x ray done and that too is okay. I am awaiting results from the CT scan at the moment. I have also had a camera put down my nose into my throat and was told there are no polyps and they cannot see any cancer! I can only describe to you that either side of my throat (not inside I think) there is a very small area(nothing visible on the outside of neck) a point that if pressed on is very uncomfortable and makes me cough. Also I can feel these points (especially on the right hand side) when I lay on either side in bed. It makes me cough as it seems the pressure of laying my head on the side starts me coughing.....
