What Causes Sore Throat?

My throat feels like a sore throat however instead of the traditional scratchy sore throat feeling it is a bruised feeling. The bruised feeling is also present when I touch the lower part of my adams apple and below. I have also been experiencing dizziness, low energy and congestion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I see many patients with sore throat every day.
The most common cause can be a common cold, and except being accompanied by signs like runny nose, or cough, it also does not last more then 5 days.
If you have symptoms of being tired for more than a week, fever, painful nodes on the neck, difficulty swallowing, and its not getting better after a week, but worse, then you should consider a throat visit to you physician so he checks if its a bacterial infection and it needs antibiotics, or run a thyroid check-up to rule out a acute inflammation or other problems of it.
I find this answer helpful
