What causes sore throat?

Hi- This morning I woke up with a sore throat and runny nose. I also had a swollen gland on the right side of my neck under my jaw. It s not sore, and feels hard to touch. Also during the day the swelling goes down occasionally (after a saline gargle etc.). Should I be worried about these symptoms? Or is this just a simple common cold?

Hi,

I suggest you not to get worried in this case. It can be due to the common cold and also can be due to too cold climatic condition at night. The hard lump in the neck is lymph node enlargement due to infection of a sore throat. Do salt water gargle regularly and it will get reduced. Avoid having too cold food especially before sleeping.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
