What Causes Sore Throat, Tiredness And Body Pain?

My husband has been weak for about 3 weeks. At first he had a sore throat, but that went away within a week. Now he is still so tired and his body hurts all over. He has head aches and has to poop a lot. He is unusually cold all the time. He is 400 lbs and also smokes. What could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Short answer: It seems viral infection probably.

As per above mentioned complaints, I feel he is having viral infection... But its always safe to rule out other possible conditions by some simple blood investigations....like complete blood count, Renal function test and liver function test.

When patient with above complaints visit my OPD with normal blood test reports I advice him:

1) plenty of oral fluids..(4-5lit in 24 hrs)

2) chlorhexidine gargles...twice a day.

3)Diet rich in protein and carbs.

4) minimum 6 hrs sleep.

Body immunity is best against viral infection ..and antibiotics are mostly unnecessary.... Thus boosting immunity by above mentioned ways will help him.Take care.
