What Causes Sore Throat, Cough And Sneezing Despite Having Pollen Allergy?

my sis is having a minor eye surgery to remove ingrown eyelashes from chemo, but she wants me to be with her and i have a fullblown case of my pollen allergy that i get every year at this time. I need to know if it is safe for me to go with her to the hospital or if my allergy is harmful to her. I am sneezing, watery eyes, cough, sore throat.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sore throat, cough and sneezing despite having pollen allergy which seems to be due to chest infection/ chronic upper respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry about blood in cough as it occurs sometimes due to sinus infection. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get paranasal sinus x-ray done along with throat swab test and blood tests and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take proper course of antibiotics. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids. Apply mist humidifiers in room. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Take anti histamine like benadryl and stay in humid environment .
