General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of Pharyngitis & you are a chronic smoker. Presently you are having the sensation of foreign body stuck in throat & hoarseness of voice.

You are suggested to get physically examined to detect any foreign body stuck that is causing the airways to get constricted.

Globus sensation may occur due to GERD, thyroid issues, esophageal, pharyngeal or laryngeal inflammations. PPI's & antacids should relieve it.

Your treating doctor should rule out any lump in throat. Get assessed get treated at the earliest.

Stress, anxiety, psychological problems(physical & emotional) may cause it. Stay away from it. Cut on alcohol intake & smoking, it will worsen the symptoms if you continue with it.

Lump in throat, sore throat that doesn't heal are indicative of throat cancer. Hoarseness or change of voice for more than 3 weeks is a sign of laryngeal cancer.

Get evaluated & assessed for any pathology causing you the discomfort. Get treated at the earliest. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
