Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sore Throat And Difficulty In Swallowing?
At the start of May I got a really bad sore throat, where I was in tears whenever I swallowed. It has been given me bad ear/head ache constantly. The pain has now mostly stopped (head and ear ache is very minimum) but I still have a peprsistent cough and my voice is not back to normal at all- people constantly asking if I am ill. Also, lost a lot of weight. No swollen glands at all. Throat is bad 24/7 since start of may. Doctors briefly looked and said nothing was wrong but it has been months and I am still bad. Wakes me up every night in pain. I am tired all the time, but with no swollen glands thought it probably is not glandular fever? Been blood tested for anemia and was okay.
Hello. Since you ar experiencing pain with cough, which indeed is from around 2 month and you have lost weight also, I would suggest you to get your blood tests done viz. 1. ESR 2. TLC 3. DLC 4. Mantoux Test. 5. Get your Chest X-ray(P/A view) done also. Do you also experience slight rise in your body temperature mainly in evenings? However I will suggest you some home remedies: 1. Do gargles twice a day with lukewarm water mixed with a pinch of salt. 2. Take steam by adding a small stick on cinnamon and 10 Tulsi(basil) leaves into water. 3.Keep a small peice of licorice in your mouth and suck its juice slowly. This will help you. You can also opt its candy.
I hope this helps you. Wish you a speedy recovery.
Thanks Dr. Tripat Mehta
