What Causes Sore Throat Along With Swollen Lymph Nodes?

I have a severely sore throat, basically to the point where I fear swallowing. My Lymph nodes seem to be swollen, and they are tender to touch on the outside of my from neck. My tongue is covered with a mucilaginous compound. My whole body aches. My tonsils are red, and they have white pus pockets on them. I ve had an on and off fever for 2 days, accompanied by chills. I know this is not flu, or the common cold. In fact, these symptoms lead me to believe this is either mono, tonsillitis (Which of course can come from the group A strep bacteria), and strep throat. I m assuming it s strep. Could it be, and do I need to see a doctor about it?

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your throat infection.

As per the it seems to acute bacterial pharyngitis, as you have associated symptoms of inflamed fever. You need to consult an ENT specialist for further evaluation and take medication like levofloxicin and Ibuprofen after the consultation with him. During mean time you may take paracetamol tablets for fever after every six hourly.

Hope my answer will help you and visit us back in case you feel any further assistance needed.

Regards
Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
