What Causes Sore Ears?

Hi there, I was practicing flipping backwards from a handstand a few days ago, the first time I may have hit the back of my head slightly (felt ok immediately after), but the second time I landed flat on my back, which winded me badly and caused an immediate sharp earache-type pain. From what I remember I don t think I hit my head the second time. I didn t lose consciousness and everything still seems to function fine, but other than what feels like a bruised back (but no external bruising), I still ocassionally have slightly sore ears , and wonder if this is something I need to follow up on. Could you please advise?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi
welcome in H.C.M.

I understand your concern, since there is injury on back of head following which you develop pain in ears. This incidence is of only few days back.

Considering all aspects of your clinical history it appears as you may have-

1- Contusion or oedema in brain.

2- Fracture in temporal bone.

All above may be differentiated by a thorough examination and investigations like M.R.I.

Thanks for consulting H.C.M.
