What Causes Sore And Swollen Glands Under The Arms?

Hi, 3 Members of family have sore, swollen bumps (glands) under the arms and across the chest. 2 Females 1 male. Joints hurt, and each had a short time where it felt like a flu was coming on, but it passed quickly. The bumps are tender and some are discolored. Understand that limp node swell with infections. I guess the question is, At what point should we see a Dr. or are we ok to ride this out? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Since the problem is affecting 3 members of your family at a time, it may be a contagious bacteria, viral or fungal skin infection. However, a medical examination will be needed to know the exact cause and how to treat the condition. In the meantime, i will advise anti-inflammatory pain drugs like ibuprofen, good hygiene/bathing with antisetic solution like cyteal. From the findings on physical examination, you Doctor may prescribe drugs depenidng on his diagnostic orientation.
Hope this will help
Best regards
