What Causes Sore And Red Bumps On Tongue After Rinsing With Peroxide?

Sore spot on roof of mouth, could feel some loose skin with my tongue so must have scratched it somehow. Now my tongue is sore, has some red bumps.

I had rinsed my mouth with peroxide for the scrape on roof of mouth. Is peroxide too caustic that it burned my tounge?

Brief answer:CHEMICAL BURNS.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain hydrogen peroxide used to rinse the mouth but in case a concentrated solution of hydrogen peroxide is used to rinse it can cause inflammation and burning of the mucosa leading to the symptom as you explained..

The soreness and red bumps are a result of inflammation and irritation of the mucous membranes due to chemical burns.

I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get evaluated..

In case of chemical burn you should keep sipping cold water to reduce the inflammation.

Sucking on ice pops can be relieving..

In case of pain Ibuprofen or calpol can be taken as it will help in reducing pain and inflammation both..

In case of discomfort during eating you can apply numbing gel containing lignocaine and choline salicylate for avoiding pain and burning during eating..

Avoid hot and spicy food..

Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration..

Gargles with non alcoholic antimicrobial mouth wash diluted with water 1:1 ratio can be helpful to prevent infections.

Hope your query is solved..
