What Causes Soft Painful Lumps Along The Bikini Line?

Hello, Recently I have just noticed a lump/bump near my leg and vagina. Information: I have a small/medium size soft lump/bump on my bikini line. I would say about the size of half a golf ball. Only one lump/bump and no others near it. It is red-ish in color and sticks out a little bit. It has a bit of a bruised look to it. If I am to touch it, it feels as soft as a really soften grape and moves easily. It is located near a lot of hair and exactly in the middle of where my bikini line is. Only painful when touched or rubbed. Only showed up/been noticed for 2 days. Information to maybe help: I have recently shaved but it not near my shaven areas. I also have had long time exposure to being in a hot tub and swimming pool. I have had intercourse but with my long time partner (Was clear when we got tested). My legs rub together a lot. Age 19. Female. I will likely be off to see a doctors soon but really want to have an idea of maybe what it is...

Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Such skin lesion are usually caused by the rubbing of the area excessively e.g continuous contact of two adjacent areas of skin especially in hot and humid weather and in a wet environment like being in pool or on beach for long time.

It is also caused by a bikini or underwear that isn't 100% cotton made. Its actually known as Contact dermatitis and usually happens near the stripes of the clothing, like bikini stripe lines, stripe lines of bra. It can also be caused on neck by collars of shirts.

Wear only all-cotton & loose undergarments. Keep the areas dry and clean. Don't use scented shampoo and soaps. Take shower with Oatmeal milk and honey body wash. Apply 3 times a day over the counter available creams, 1. Clotrimazole & 2. Hydrocortisone. Take Claritin 1 tablet by mouth once daily for a week.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.

Have a wonderful time ahead.

Best Regards!
