What Causes Snoring And Wheezing In A Child?

Hi there , This is for my 3 and half year daughter. She has around 5 episodes of enlarged tonsil in last 6 months. Every time she has very loud snoring sound and wheezing while breath with cough and vomiting since last 6 months. Most of time she breath fast and I can feel her stomach moving very fast as well. I feel like she has some kind of conjunction in her airways. She has prescribed with antibiotics but her tonsils dont shrink as they used to be. She been really good for first 3 years . She has been operated for left kidney blockage when she was one week old but she is doing really well after. Please advice what could be the reason and possible treatments.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are some persons who have very frequent tonsil infections. If they occur more than 3 times a year or cause obstruction/blockage of the airway then this is a reason to consider removal.

Enlarged adenoids, which are structures in the throat as well, can also cause snoring and obstruction.

It would be best for her to see an ENT doctor for assessment.

He or she may try the use of anti histamines, decongestants and nasal sprays initially to see if this would decrease the frequency of the infections.
If this is not effective and she is still having significant problems then removal may be considered.

I hope this helps
