What Causes Sneezing And Cough Along With Mild Headache?

I have a cough, sneezing, stuffy nose, and slight headache. I was treated two weeks ago for a sinus infection, but it seems to have come back. Can I treat this with over the counter meds. or do I need to go to the doctor again? Also, I take meds. for high blood pressure.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms you mention can be due to another viral infection of the upper respiratory system and the sinuses as part of it. You don't need to see your doctor if you have no fever, and no thick yellow-green nose secretions or headache for more then 10 days.

If you develop fever for longer than 4 days or have yellow green nose secretions for 10 days or headache for 10 days you will need to see your doctor and consider antibiotics.

Meanwhile nasal saline solution lavage several times a day may help relieve the symptoms and nasal steroids as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
