What Causes Smooth Red Itchy Skin Marks On Hips?

I have three very red marks on my right hip in line with the waist band of my underwear. Two are about the size of a quarter and one about the size of a dime. Occasionally they will mildly itch a little. The skin in not broken and the marks are not hard or lumpy. Just smooth very red marks. I m a 63 year old male who is 6 1 , 200 lbs and in generally good health. I went to see my family doctor who seemed puzzled. He prescribed some over the counter fungus cream which had no effect. Any idea? Should I ask to see a dermatologist?

Hi,
You didn't mention since when u have those marks. You also mention that they are in line with the waist band. My question is, did you use any new underpants or is the waist band to tight.
To me the symptoms you described suggest more of an allergic reaction.
Take one tablet of levocetrizine 10mg at night. Itl reduce the itching. Also visit the dermatologist for further evaluation
