What Causes Smelly Vaginal Discharge?

I ve been having a smelly vaginal discharge for about 6 years now and it varies from a, very runny strong smelling clear liquid, to a very thick smelly white/cream liquid... Its hard to ask my mom what s going on..I know it s not my fault or anything but its embarrassing.. I just want it to stop. I m 16 and this been going on sense I was 8 or 9 ish I also have lower back pain but I believe my period is to blame for that.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A strong vaginal odor

— for instance, a "fishy" smell
— might be abnormal and could indicate a problem.

Bacterial vaginosis

— an overgrowth of normally occurring vaginal bacteria
— is the most common vaginal infection that causes a vaginal odor. Please visit your clinician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
