What Causes Small Marble Sized Mass Below The Rib Cage?

Hi there, for a few years now I have experienced very occasional bouts of a small marble sized (mass of some sort) that presses up against the skin just below my rib cage in the centre. The mass doesn t stay for long periods of time, and in a few cases I have pushed the mass back under the skin with a fair bit of discomfort. Any ideas as to what that could be?
