What Causes Small Lumps Behind The Ear?

My 2.3 yrs old son has two small lumps/nodes/knots (don’t know what exactly need to be called) behind his left ear. He has it almost by birth. These are hard and painless. But I am worry about it. Can you pls tell me what is it? Will it cause any harm to my child?

Thanks for your query.

It seems your son has lymph nodes behind his ears (post auricular).
These small sized nodes are not worrisome as after some enlargement of the nodes ,which occurs because of an infection of the scalp area, these nodes do not regress to tho original size (not palpable) and may persist without any untoward effect.
Over the time they are likely to become smaller and not palpable
