I am exclusively breastfeeding my son who will be 6 months on the 25th. I have a small blister like lump in my breast. Its not by the nipple. It does not hurt unless I try to squeeze it. When its squeezed it burns very badly. It seems to have gotten a little smaller but the pain is very bad I don t think I can squeeze it again. Also I had it maybe a week ago and I think it went away of I just haven t noticed it and its been here the whole time. Please advise
Hello and welcome to HCM From your description and history you may have developed a blister due to breastfeeding even if it is anywhere near the nipple, due to continuous sucking and pressure over the area. If it is no where near the area your baby sucks, it may just be an infected gland or due to underlying blocked glands, or unexpressed milk. For a sucking blister, just soothe the area with a nipple rash cream between feeds. If there is fluid in it, get it checked with the doctor regarding removing it. In any case, if the swelling is only on the skin surface, you can apply an antibiotic cream while you are not feeding. If it is deep, try warm compresses, express out any extra breast milk. If you have severe pain, fever, chills or any discharge, see a doctor and check regarding antibiotic tablets. Keep a note if you are getting new rashes or blisters that are spreading. Hope this helps.
