What Causes Slight Fever, Hay Fever And Rashes On Body Of Child?

I have a 3 year old who was exposed to 5th Disease about 2-3 weeks ago. She s had a runny nose and a slight fever and has hay fever. On Friday Sept 11th she broke out with a red rash that over the next 24 hours spread over her entire body and developed small blisters. At the time she didn t say that it hurt and so I assumed 5th disease. She is continuing to break out and is now complaining that they hurt. The ones that have subsided you can still feel under her skin when you rub your had over them. I ve given her oatmeal and baking soda baths. Wondering if I should take her into her doctor?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Seems most possible post viral infection related skin eruptions most likely from a day care school setting or upper respiratory tract infection.

* In my clinic, I do recommend a body sponging with cologn water and tub bath with lavender oil for excellent soothing action.

* Syrup acetaminophen as per the weight criteria for pain relief, plenty of liquids orally, Oral rehydration salt, ctrus fruits.

* Consult his pediatrician if required after 48 hours of above.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
