What Causes Sleeplessness, Faster Heart Beat, Loss Of Appetite And Tiredness?

Hi. My mum is 72 and has been feeling unwell for the last couple of weeks. She says she cant sleep at night. Feels week with no energy and her heart is beating fast and she has no appetite. What can be causing this? She has had an ecg and her blood pressure and oxygen levels are fine. She only feels like this in the mornings and is better in the afternoon.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. All these symptoms, I usually think of anemia first.
2. If anemia is not present and is more in the mornings, gastritis during early morning possibly with reflux needs to be thought of.
3. She can take proton pump inhibitors like pantoprazole for a week or two, the symptoms should subside. Mild exercises in the morning will also be helpful.
4. Also get a complete hemogram. I do not expect hypothyroidism, however, do get a thyroid profile done.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
