Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking your query at health care magic.
I understand your concern. I am Dr Alok Sinha, MD Psychiatry from India. I will try to help you with best of my effort.

Apparently you are suffering from an anxiety disorder called Panic Disorder. A person suffering from Panic disorder experiences repeated self limiting, short-lasting episodes of extreme anxiety associated with some of the below mentioned symptoms:-
1. Pain chest/heaviness in chest
2. Choking sensation/breathlessness/shortness of breath/nasal congestion
3. Dizziness/heaviness of head/headache
4. Dryness of mouth and throat/ increased frequency of water gulping
5. Tingling/numbness/burning sensation in limbs
6. Churning sensation of abdomen/frequency of motion/frequent urination
7. Excessive sweating
8. Tremors/ inability to stand on ground
8. Fear of impending doom/ fear of going mad.

These symptoms build up suddenly to a very high level but lasts for few minutes, followed by gradual resolution of symptoms. Often, even after resolution of symptoms there remains residual anxiety and person fears of having another such attack any time in future. So he/she remains worried, restless, unable to relax and experiences difficulty in getting sleep.

As you told, you are having many of the above mentioned symptoms ruining your mental peace.
If a person like you comes to me, I usually assess him/her in detail for other illness contributing to anxiety state and then prescribe anxiolytics for some time. I suggest you to take professional help of a psychiatrist at the earliest who may prescribe you few medicines and/or psychotherapy for your cure.

I went through your details. Please understand that due to panic attacks nobody dies. Anxiety and panic are body's defense mechanism and are essential for your reaction to fear. Your anxiety is troubling and therefore you are loosing your sleep. You should exercise rigorously and stop sleeping in the afternoon as the primary measure and consult a psychologist for counseling and further advise.
