Hello, my name is Diane I am 50 and post menopause. I had my last period 18 mo ago. One month ago My left areola was itchy and when I looked at it it was shedding/ pealing skin. I thought it was my new bra. It stopped itching and a week ago it started again and I looked at it and it was flamed and peeling again. I went to my Doctor and had a mammogram and ultra sound checking for Pagets disease. The mam and ultra sound came back with nothing found so I had a biopsy yesterday. When I woke up yesterday(before biopsy) I noticed I had been spotting. WHAT? I am still bleeding. Lightly. I am also breaking out. Acne. These symtoms are all abnormal for me. What is happening? Is this all related? I am going for ultra sound on fri for thickening of uterus ? Something like that. ...again, is this a hormone issue? If so what do I do about it? Am I doing the right things?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of skin peeling on the areola, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply an emollient cream like Enmoist cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a vitamin C supplement once daily for 3 months.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
