What Causes Sickness With Loss Of Appetite?

Hi My daughter is 9 months old. She is not feeling from last week or so. Running nose, lose of apetite, went to doc and did blood work. he suggested that it is an infection. and put her on antibiotics. He also asked to do urine examination. We did it recently and it showed wbc count of 80. What does that mean is she having UTI ? or something else. She is feeling drowsy, not eating much and she is having fever from week or so around 101.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A White Blood Cell count of 80 in the urine means that when the lab technician puts a drop of urine on a glass slide and looks at it under a microscope he/she can count 80 WBCs. This number of WBCs is high and is often associated with a urinary tract infection. To prove there is a urinary tract infection, a sample of the urine must go to the lab for culture.
With a culture(which usually takes 48-72 hours to grow in the lab) that is positive for a particular number of bacteria and the 80 WBC count in urine, the patient has a urinary tract infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
