What causes shortness of breath? I have just completed an extensive pulmonary testing and an heart cauterization. Both resulting in no problems found in lungs or heart. My symptom occurs when I bend over or use my arms to lift weight up to 50 lbs. I am 70 years old with type 2 diabetes, under control A1c of 6.2..

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

For breathlessness, your cardiac and respiratory function checked by EKG, pulmonary function test, chest x-ray, etc. If no cardiac or respiratory cause detected by above investigations than stress history should be taken to evaluate panic attack.

Anxiety sometimes can lead to dyspnea by panic attack. So, if anxiety issues present psychiatrist can be consulted. Second, check your hemoglobin level to rule out anemia. If any family history of thrombosis present then kindly inform about that. According to the cause, specific treatment is prescribed
