What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Yawning?

Hi, I am a 49 year old female. For the last couple weeks I have been having trouble getting a breath in. Kind of like when you yawn and get the release. I just can t get a deep breath in. I do not smoke or use alcohol however I am 40 lbs. overweight. For the last couple of months I have been having what I thought was hot flashes, but now I m not so sure. I have had a complete hysterectomy(age 37) and also had thyroid nodule removed. My gather has heart disease, so I am wondering if symptoms could be heart related. Thanks in advance:)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, you need to get your echocardiogram done and rule out any valvular heart disease.

You can also consult your gynaecologist and get a hormonal assay done for hot flushes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
