What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Pressure In The Chest?
My mother is taking 30 mg of Imdur and is experiencing shortness of breath. She is taking it for chest pressure. She has atrial fib and mitral and tricuspid valve issues. She is 86 years old. She has taken the drug for about six weeks now. I am noticing that she is short of breath, too. Can this be a side effect of the drug?

Your mother is taking 30 mg of Imdur (which is a nitrate). This makes me think that your mother is suffering of angina attack.
This explains why she is experiencing shortness of breath.
It is not a side effect of Imdur.
Give her another pill and send to hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Meanwhile, monitor her blood pressure and record the results.
