What Causes Shortness Of Breath And High Heart Rate?

I was released from the hospital yesterday with shortness of breath and escalated heart rate when taking prednisone. I was on IV medrol 60 mg 2x day. Now I am on 40 mg 2x day at home. I am having continued shortness of breath and heart rate is averaging 115 - 120. Should I be concerned, or should I just bear the discomfort? Alice Wilson

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It may be best to go back to the hospital to be assessed since you heart rate is still markedly elevated and you are still experiencing shortness of breath.

You should not have to bear the discomfort, it would be best to be seen as soon as you can.

I hope this helps
