What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Fluttering Heart?
hi well im a 16 year old women. Lately I'v been having shortness of breath and my heart flutters and I can't breath. I have trouble with it alot and I'm wondering is something wrong? I'v been to the ER for a lot of rib and chest pains in the past. And it had went away for awhile but now it's returning
Hi, This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist. Palpitations & fluttering in any indivisual needs to be evaluated. It can be normal ectopics, sinus arrythmia or abnormal Atrial Fibrillation or Flutter. You need to do a ECG at the time of fluttering & palpitation plus a 2D Echo. Pain in chest due to heart disease is very rare at your age. Still you need to do a ECG & 2D Echo for cardiac evaluation. Chest pain at your age can be simple muscle pain or costochondritis (inflammation of joint between bone & cartilage of chest wall). Both are treated with pain killer. You can follow up with me after the ECG & echo reports. Thanks
