What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Dry Cough?

my mother just had chemo for her lymphoma out of remission after 16 yrs. She is 86 yrs old. She had her first round of 6 cycles and she gets short of breath and has felt her air is shut off. Her cxr shows no chf or pneumonia and they says she has the heart of a 20 yr old. At times will have a drey cough. What could be causing this

I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, we should first rule out bronchitis in your case because bronchitis is common after chemotherapy and it causes breathlessness and coughing.
So consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT William also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
She may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Don't worry, she will be alright.
